On Friday December 29,2023 around 4pm the Verplanck Fire Department was dispatched to Steamboat dock for a body found floating near the shoreline.

Upon arrival a body was noticed approximately 8 feet away from the shoreline. Captain O’Mara and Firefighter Mitchell quickly got into wetsuits and were able to retrieve the body safely. The scene was then turned over to the Westchester County Police Department for further investigation.
